It all began with a heart for the people of West Africa.

Established in 2003, CIM is a non-profit Christian organization that formed out of a heart for the people in West Africa. We work in partnership with local churches, missions agencies, missionaries and seminaries to materialize our vision of cross-cultural outreach to non-Chinese ethnic groups. Our current outreach resides in Ghana, Togo, and Ukraine, to bring physical and spiritual help to the marginalized. CIM Canada has sister offices in the US, Hong Kong and Australia, who altogether work to enhance global evangelization through church planting.

Partnership Ministry

We work in partnership with local churches, missions agencies, missionaries and seminaries to materialize our vision of cross-cultural outreach to other ethnic groups. Our conviction is that we are different members of Christ’s body, supplementing each other as we extend His kingdom through missionary activities. This partnership model allows our missions teams to form long-term relationships and create a lasting impact.

Holistic Approach

We believe that the Gospel of Jesus Christ works to meet the needs of both our bodies and souls. Our loving God cares as much for our physical needs as our spiritual needs. Our evangelistic approach must reflect this characteristic in our effort to communicate the gospel to the world.

Laity Involvement

We recruit and mobilize committed lay believers to short-term missions for dual purposes:

  1. To utilize their professional expertise to help local people develop job skills that can improve their livelihood.

  2. To share their Christian faith with the local people through their contributions and presence in the missions field.

Why the name Chinese International Missions?

Chinese International Missions (CIM) began as a shared desire to fulfill the Great Commission on an individual and corporate basis.  The initial breakthrough happened in 1991 when a group of North American Chinese pastors traveled to Brazil to take part in an outreach event that Rev. Clarence Pi (founder of CIM) had arranged.  Prompted by the outreach event, Clarence called a meeting in October of 1991 to explore further possibilities of continued collaborative missions work.  From that and future meetings, they found that culturally Chinese churches and believers did not prioritize global missions. It became apparent that there was a pressing need to form a Chinese mission organization that would motivate and mobilize Chinese believers and churches for missions. Hence the name, Chinese International Missions. While we have continued using the name, as an organization, our hope is to unite and mobilize the entire body of Christ, regardless of ethnicity.
