Q1. What are the qualifications to join a short-term missions trip? The most important qualification we require is a born-again life through Jesus with a heart to serve people and the Lord. It will be ideal to possess professional qualification in the areas of ministries we have in Ghana, but it is not a must. Q2. What can I do in Ghana? We are involved in various ministries in two main cities (Tamale and Kpandai) in Ghana. These ministries include computer/business, preschool/kindergarten, medical, theological training, children and youth outreach, etc. You can help in any of these areas. Q3. What is the best time of the year to go to Ghana? We do not follow a fixed schedule to send teams to Ghana during the year. Instead, we form teams or group interested individuals to go together at their most convenient period of time. Depending on the ministries you will be involved in, we can accommodate most of the times along the year to contemplate a short-term missions trip to Ghana. If you will be involved in teaching in the computer and business school or the kindergarten in Tamale, we recommend that you avoid the summer months of July and August as those will be their summer vacation period. Q4. How long is required to stay in the missions field? We require a minimum of 2 weeks of stay in the missions field for all our short-term missions trips in order to make these trips effective for their intended purposes. When planning for a short-term missions trip, please also take the lengthy travel time into consideration. Flying from the west coast of North America to Accra, the capital of Ghana, takes at least 1.5 days with the time difference taken into consideration. Then from Accra to Tamale or Kpandai, it takes another day to arrive at the final destination. The total travel time adds up to about 2.5 days for just one way's travel. Q5. How is the budget like? Approximately CAD$1,000 will cover vaccinations, Ghana entry Visa, trip cancellation insurance, local transportation, accommodation, food, etc. This does not include airfare which is the largest and the most variant portion of the budget. The price of airfare varies a lot depending on the time of the year. When you check for flights, the destination city should be Accra, the capital of Ghana, with airport code ACC. |
