Chinese International Missions (Canada)

About Us
Vision

To assist worldwide Chinese churches to obey the Great Commission of Jesus Christ.

Purpose

To promote and provide opportunities of cross-cultural missions for Chinese churches in North America.

Strategy

Partnership Ministry

We work in partnership with local churches, missions agencies, missionaries and seminaries to materialize our vision of cross-cultural outreach to other ethnic groups. Our conviction is that we are different members of Christˇ¦s body, supplementing each other as we extend His kingdom through missionary activities.

Holistic Approach

We believe that the gospel of Jesus Christ works to meet the needs of both our bodies and souls. Our loving God cares as much for our physical needs as our spiritual needs. Our evangelistic approach must reflect this characteristic in our effort to communicate the gospel to the world.

Laity Involvement

We recruit and mobilize committed lay believers to short-term missions for dual purposes:

1) To utilize their professional expertise to help local people develop job skills that can improve their livelihood.
2) To share their Christian faith with the local people through their contributions and presence in the missions field.

History

Chinese International Missions was founded in 1992 in the United States by Rev. Clarence Pi who had a deep conviction that Chinese churches should provide a new worldwide missionary thrust not only to their own kinsmen but also to other ethnic groups cross culturally.

After around 10 years developing the initial stage of CIMˇ¦s ministries outreaching to overseas Chinese in South Africa, Germany, Brazil and Argentina, the US board decided it was time to advance into the second stage of cross cultural missions via the birth of CIM (Canada) in March 2003, under the leadership of Rev. Philip Leung with its base in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

CIM (Canada) became the Canadian counterpart of CIM (US) both carrying the same vision of mobilizing and partnering with the Chinese churches to participate in the task of world evangelization.

In February 2004, CIM (Canada) was recognized as a registered charity by the Canadian Federal Government to issue tax-deductible receipts to donations in Canada supporting our ministry.

Present Ministry

Since 2007, We have started a new partnership with Evangelical Church of Ghana (ECG), a local Ghanaian church group, to do theological training, youth discipleship training and students outreach. Starting in 2009, we participate in the church planting project of ECG to establish six new churches in the country. As ˇ§holisticˇ¨ is one of our core values, we provide scholarships to students in schools and medical inputs to help patients in a local clinic. Our objective is to display love and concern of Christians to the local community and to empower and strengthen the local churches so they will become effective witnesses of Jesus Christ.

We are recruiting Short-Term Missions teams from Chinese churches in Canada, US and other overseas countries to go to Africa to serve and to learn. We provide opportunities for the Short-Term Missions teams to come to contribute and at the same time allow God to speak to them and change their lives.

We continue to work in partnership with Rev. Joshua Siu, our missionary partner of World Evangelization for Christ (WEC) Ghana, to provide both human and financial resources to meet the needs of the Computer and Business College and the Kindergarten in Tamale. We are recruiting Computer, Accounting, Management and Education personnel with mature Christian faith to contribute their professions in both of the above mentioned schools so as to build evangelistic bridges to the local Moslem community.
